With extensive experience in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Benekos focuses on safe pregnancy care, fertility support, and the management of complex gynecological conditions. He is committed to providing clear explanations and evidence-based treatment options founded on the latest medical knowledge.
Dr. Benekos graduated with distinction from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, where he earned his Medical Degree with honors. Early in his medical career, he served as a physician with the Hellenic Force in Cyprus (ELDYK). He subsequently completed training in General Surgery at the 251 Hellenic Air Force General Hospital, gaining extensive experience in the management and treatment of complex surgical cases. This strong surgical foundation significantly contributed to his later specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
His specialist training in Gynecology began at Georgios Gennimatas General Hospital of Athens, where he provided medical care to women with a wide range of gynecological conditions. He later continued his training at Elena Venizelou General Hospital and Maternity Hospital, one of Greece’s leading referral centers for obstetrics and gynecology.
During his training, he acquired extensive clinical and surgical experience by participating in a large number of both uncomplicated and high-risk deliveries, managing obstetric and gynecological emergencies, caring for high-risk pregnancies, and assisting in complex Caesarean sections. He also worked in the outpatient clinics, the Colposcopy Unit, and the Family Planning Department, providing comprehensive consultation, preventive care, and personalized support for women at every stage of life.
Dr. Benekos has participated in numerous obstetric and gynecological surgical procedures, including laparoscopic, hysteroscopic, and gynecologic oncology surgeries. His experience also includes the management of gynecological tumors and precancerous cervical lesions using modern techniques such as laser ablation. In addition, he has received certification in advanced life support, emergency and critical obstetric care, and trauma management.
His professional development also includes international clinical experience in Reproductive Endocrinology at a specialized fertility center abroad, as well as participation in advanced robotic surgery training programs. Dr. Benekos maintains an active academic presence through participation and presentations at national and international medical conferences and has contributed to research published in peer-reviewed international medical journals.
In 2018, he served as a Fellow Observer at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) under the guidance of Professor Acacio’s scientific team, focusing on pregnancy pathology and reproductive endocrinology.
