Total Arthroplasty

The most modern method of total arthroplasty is the individualized knee arthroplasty. It is used to permanently cure osteoarthritis of the knee and its results are much more successful than the methods used so far.

The term “osteoarthritis” refers to the degeneration and destruction of the articular cartilage of the knee and causes pain and stiffness in the knee as the friction between the femur, tibia and patella increases.

When the disease is at an advanced stage or when treatments such as hyaluronic acid injections, physiotherapy, painkillers, etc. fail, surgical treatment should be followed. This treatment includes total arthroplasty, which consists of replacing parts of the joint with metal implants.

Personalized knee arthroplasty is innovative because it is applied to each patient individually. Each knee has unique anatomical features that vary from person to person and depends on gender and age.

This difference becomes even more noticeable in cases of arthritis, as the damage to the articular cartilage varies depending on the depth, location, and extent of the damage. Therefore, personalized arthroplasty is the only treatment for every knee that has this condition. This is because the design and application of each surgery is tailored to each knee individually.

Patient imaging is used to generate a 3D virtual model for an unobstructed view of critical anatomic landmarks.
Interactive, 3D virtual surgeon planning enhances visualization of patient anatomy and implant position.
Virtual planning attributes are embodied in patient specific, 3D printed guides.
The use of interactive planning and patient specific guides streamline the surgical workflow.
Technology is a significant driver for patients to undergo total joint replacement surgery.1
Studies have demonstrated better accuracy and clinical outcomes through the use of Patient Specific Guides

An important advantage of this method is that it ensures the ideal function and movement of the joint, as it significantly increases the survival and durability of the implant over time.

After the operation, patients follow a rehabilitation program and thus a normal level of activity is ensured in short time.
